Gremlins
E and I had never seen Gremlins, and it’s still considered an all-time great Christmas movie, and all-time great horror movie, and after finally watching it, I am not sure it’s belongs on either list. While the concept clearly had staying power, given the franchise this created, this as a movie is pretty poor overall. It does have a couple moments though, particularly when the mom goes full Rambo in the kitchen. Glad to finally cross this off the list, but disappointed overall.

What a bizarre film! I feel like this gets a lot of hype as a cult classic, but I can’t say I fully understand that. Definitely not the classic Christmas movie vibe I was after when Z and I decided to watch this on Christmas Eve. A bit slow with some really strange writing and plot points. I’m also not sure who this is for - it is both pretty cheesy for an adult audience but pretty dark for a younger crowd - but maybe that’s just the ‘80s for ya.
