Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery
As long as Rian Johnson makes these movies, I’ll watch them, probably, but they continue to get worse so then again… maybe not. With the cast of this movie, how can you go wrong? By not giving legendary actors any screentime. Andrew Scott, Kerry Washington, and Josh Brolin were all severely underutilized. Daniel Craig was great as always, and the majority of the screentime was given to Josh O’Connor, who killed it, but it felt horribly unbalanced, and way too long. Good for a Netflix movie, but that’s not saying much. Pretty skippable.

The first Knives Out had a classic murder mystery feel and I absolutely loved the plot and characters - like a game of Clue being played out on the screen! The second one was not as good, but still very clever and fun. This felt like a big step back. The side characters were largely ignored and the plot felt very predictable. Characters were constantly over explaining what just happened. Instead of a fun adventure, the tone felt much more subdued, which feels like a misstep in continuing this series.
