O Brother, Where Art Thou?
O Brother, Where Art Thou? is one of my all-time favorite movies, and it doesn’t take much convincing to re-watch it, but it feels like maybe a decade has gone by since our last watch. Long enough at least for me to predate my awareness of Tim Blake Nelson and John Turturro, whose careers have been particularly celebrated in that time. George Clooney is absolutely electric, and his character in this movie may be one the best characters in cinema, but Tim Blake Nelson and John Turturro play their roles so perfectly that I have no doubt this movie would have won best casting had that been an award in 2000. John Turturro in particular stood out in his acting ability, given how different he is compared to his beloved Severance character. I could go on and on about how amazing this movie is, but I’ll leave that for the next revisit. This is a cinema cornerstone, a must watch for any human alive today.

Z & I rewatched this in preparation for The Odyssey - a great excuse to revisit such a great film! The music is so catchy. The acting is excellent - not that he needs it, but I have to especially call out George Clooney here for stealing every scene he is in. Not quite as laugh-out-loud as I remember it from high school, but still a top tier comedy that I of course highly recommend!
