Event Horizon
Event Horizon is in our friend Austin’s top 10 horror films, and with the passing of Sam Neill, E and I decided to kick off Spooktober with it, and wow, I’m glad we did. The movie starts off almost exactly like Alien, which is not a complaint really, but takes a more cosmic, ethereal direction, and ultimately is quite a ride. It’s not perfect, there’s some clunky choreography and it’s biggest issue is that it doesn’t fully commit to its most horrific and intriguing element, but it’s surprisingly metal, especially for a 90s sci-fi horror. It was nostalgic seeing Sam Neill in his prime again, and he was awesome, as was Laurence Fishburne, but what else is new? A must watch for horror fans.

Much better than I anticipated based on the reviews! Great suspense, characters who make logical decisions, a really cool set, solid acting. Definitely a bit cheesy in terms of writing and plot at times, and feels a little too close to Alien for me to say it has originality, but this was a fun watch.
